ANNE FREDLEY-NUCAMENDI

I began painting in the fall of 2002.  It provided a creative outlet as well as a connection to my mom, also an artist, who had passed away in June.  I still feel that connection every time I paint.

I think that because I had always enjoyed trying to capture the beauty of nature in photographs, I naturally gravitated toward landscape painting.  Much of my inspiration comes from photos taken during a trip to Italy, which included a landscape painting class in Tuscany.  I feel such a sense of timelessness and peace in the subjects I choose.  I use fairly thin layers of paint and dry brushing to create a softer, more serene look.  I hope to continue learning and painting, as art provides both challenge and fulfillment.

"WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING FROM AN ARTIST, YOU’RE BUYING MORE THAN AN OBJECT.   YOU’RE BUYING HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF ERRORS AND EXPERIMENTATION.  YOU’RE BUYING YEARS OF FRUSTRATION AND MOMENTS OF PURE JOY.  YOU’RE NOT BUYING JUST ONE THING, YOU ARE BUYING A PIECE OF A HEART, A PIECE OF A SOUL…A SMALL PIECE OF SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE."  AUTHOR UNKNOWN
